You probably ought to win some sort of prize for being the only person to have ever written January fic.

I had hoped that my reward would be to spurr wider interest in the fandom (if three people squeeing over one fic can be called that), but it seems not to have happened.

tony/steve fic

though i question your antipathy toward spiders... i found your ressurection story rec'd on epic recs *last tursday* and, though i had never thought of tony and steve together, i have since read just about everything, in the archive and that i could find through the links. and, wow. i seldom comment on fic unless it's of the 'ate my brain' sort, and yours is. yours and your partner's. writing partner's. yeah. anyhow. love the fic, love the series, wish there was more graphic sex (because i'm a perve). really, really looking forward to the next installment, which i suspect will have something to do with wanda. and have you thought about adding some nice luke/danny/jess threesome fic?

it's really quite good. thank you for sharing :)

Your writing

(Link)
Having just recently discovered the “andoneforall” LJ for Musketeer fic, I have been reading though some of the older entries. I know you have moved on in your fic writing, but I still wanted to express my enjoyment of some of your pieces. It is always fun to get feedback on an older story, don’t you think? “Concerning Cardinalists and Seawalls” is an exciting swashbuckling adventure written in the style of Dumas himself, and although, as such, keeps the reader at a certain emotional distance (less engagement with characters’ internal motivations and feelings) I appreciated it as a well written, enchanting piece. The “Canadian Shack” story is more emotionally engaging for me. Such a delightful little ditty which allows for a glimpse of the intensity of Porthos attachment to Aramis. Thank you for that. I find their relationship is often overshadowed by the dynamics of the others in much of the Musketeer fanfic available on the net. I also note you have written in other fandoms I enjoy, such as Tombstone and Pirates of the Caribbean. Your Tombstone work, though generally short, deals with my favorite relationship in the film, the complex friendship between Wyatt and Doc Holliday. Any chance of ever completing “Gunslinger”? It shows great promise! I haven’t read the POC fic yet, as I am not currently “into” that fandom. I will save those till another time.

If for any reason you feel compelled to check out a fellow writer’s work, I have a couple Musketeer pieces as well, and a single Tombstone story up at my personal Live Journal. Feel free to drop by and peruse what is available.

Stories Ahead

Thank you for the sharing your creativity with all of us. I received great enjoyment from reading your work.

Merci,
Fee Folay

I'm always in awe of prolific writers even if the stuff is bad (your stuff is actually, very good. I can only vouch for the cap_ironman stuff though :P). That takes commitment, discipline and excellent use of time.

Trust me, the stuff I wrote seven years ago when I was 18 is considerably less good (for one thing, I used to call people's eyes 'orbs,' for another, I didn't learn to plot until somewhere around PotC fandom, and I didn't learn pacing until RR&R years ago). At least the internet and I both benefited from the fact that I didn't gain the ability to post anything online until i was already in college.

So, it's been like six months since i came over and check to see if you'd written anything. My intention was to just do a quick check, but then I saw RRR, and then I saw classic-verse, and now I have an order that I'm going to start to read them in.

The roughest day
Classic verse
The Bruce/Tony thing
RRR
some oneshots

I think this whole warning fiasco is fucking with me. I do not normally make lists.

Hi, I'm just dropping by out of the blue because I can't seem to figure out what happened to When The Lights Go On Again. It's been a while and I can't find any reference to it being abandoned or delayed aside from the slowed down april posting schedule anywhere. Sorry if I just missed somewhere obvious but I really liked the story and I'm wondering if you intend to continue it? :)

Hey, Elspeth, I don't know if you remember me, but we talked back in, oh, '03/'04 in Pirates fandom, and I just wanted to ask if you'd consider taking advantage of the Organization for Transformative Works' Geocities Rescue Project (http://transformativeworks.org/announcing-otws-geocities-rescue-project); I would miss "A Pirate's Life" and yes, the Remus/Sirius stories you wrote quite a lot if they vanished from the internet.

Wow, thanks for the offer, but since the fics are all backed up on ff.net and (in the case of A Pirate's Life) on lj as well, they aren't going to vanish from the web when geocities goes down. I'm probably going to just put up a new website with all the same fic content with a different web provider.

So I'll decline and let the OTW save their energies for site where the fic truly is going to vanish if it's not saved.

edit You're watersword, aren't you? I completely lost touch with you when you went ot insane journal. Do you have a DW account?

That one's not going to go on ff.net, but I can email you a .doc or .rtf file of it if you want ^_^.

We're considering doing a serial-filing on it some day, and I have a policy of never, ever deleting fic, so we *can't* put it on ff.net, because then if we're really, really lucky we might end up having to delete it (the cap_ironman comm posts can just be locked to the comm in the lottery-winning-like chance that that ever happens). That's why the .pdf version -- so people could get the whole thing in one file without having to copy-paste-save a zillion lj posts. (the Snow Queen fic is also not on ff.net, but that's because it quotes large parts of the original fairy tale verbatim and I'm pretty sure that's against ff.net's rules).

I've have found you, my love, an entire organized list of brilliant marvel stories (plus a bunch more fandoms that I read). As well as bunch of Co-authors who I must investigate as well. I have barely scratched the surface but so far I've loved everything.

on a side note: Are you and Seanchai planning on continuing Classic Verse or has it been laid to rest?

Warning: This Comment is Long and Contains Lots of 'Squee'

(Link)
Now I didn't know where to put this, so I figured I might as well put this where the giant list of fics is, seeing as it's entirely about what I think of all yours and seanchai's collaborations and not just one singular story.

I just finished When The Lights Go On Again, along with nearly all of yours and seanchai’s Marvel verse collaborations, and I just couldn’t bear to wait any longer to tell you two how much I utterly adore your works. You two really complement one another well, and it shows in the sheer beauty that is your guys’ writing.

Now normally I’m more of a lurker and don’t often review, but every so often, I’ll catch the odd story or two that will move me so much, or be so great in my eyes that I simply can’t leave it without telling the author (or authors in this case) just how much I enjoyed it. Even less often am I compelled to read nearly every single thing that author has put out, but for some reason, with you two I was compelled to do just that.

The first thing I must address in this review is your guys’ characterization. You have, in my humble opinion, perfectly captured the nature of these characters, in all of your stories. In most fanfiction stories, I find that even when based off canon and in the same “universe” as canon, the author seems to just use the characters’ names and physical features in a story before making up completely new personalities for them. This is not so in your fics, because while you obviously take a few discrepancies -this is fanfiction after all, what would be the point in writing it if you didn’t?- you still keep the essence of the characters the same. This is something I love seeing in fics, especially when there isn’t even a good reason for the character’s personality to change in such a manner, unlike there was for say Clint in When The Lights Go On Again who obviously had a reason as why his personality has been changed so drastically, and so I must thank you for keeping the characters true.

Another thing that I must commend you both for is the way you manage to pull off believable romances. One of my biggest pet peeves ever is when characters instantly fall in love with each other and instantly get together in the perfect relationship. I have not once seen that in any of your fics. Now, granted you do have the help of canon for giving characters like Steve and Tony an already close relationship that, let’s face it, isn’t really hard to change into a romance, but even with characters like Carol and Wanda who aren’t canon-ly very close you don’t make this mistake. You make all the romances, from Hank and Jan, to Steve and Tony, to even Kammani and Isimud, so realistic. They do have problems with each other, no matter how much they may love one another; it does take time for them to actually fall in love with each other, sometimes to the point where some of them don’t even realize just how far their love for the other really goes for a (long) while; they do hide their true feelings from one another and have doubts about whether their good enough for their lover; they are still willing to kiss or hug one another even if one or both look (and probably smell) like shit even if they also want to shake or punch the other for being so stupid in the first place. Kudos to you both for always managing to make the romances in your stories both realistic and interesting.

What's sad is that this is so long it can't fit on one reply... Now with edits and correct spellin!

Now, as a self-proclaimed detail Nazi, I am always on the lookout for stories that make me shiver with delight every time I see those little details that most people never bother to put in. For example, in When The Lights Go On Again I noticed how you put emphasis on Tony’s dilated pupils, during his and Steve’s little late night escapade. The way you added this little detail in, so fluidly and naturally, just made the entire scene all that more sensual and I felt it really added to that slow, sexual atmosphere of the scene. It’s little details like that, scattered across every one of the chapters you two put out, that makes the scenes, characters, and predicaments all that more memorable and intimate. It’s truly beautiful to see, especially when compared to a lot of the others stories -even a lot of published ones- that get put out these days.

Moreover, your guys’ writing style is something to be worshipped I feel. It’s very natural, fluid and flowing when it needs to be, a little most choppy and desperate when the situation calls for it. Your style is very distinct and unique enough to stand out and grab a reader’s attention. What’s amazing is how you manage to keep your style constant throughout all of the different POVs even though there are two of you working on these.

Much love to both of you, and all of the people who helped you, including your beta readers. Also, sorry for the terribly long and drawn out review.

Even if i like spiders and don´t really want to kill them, i couldn´t help but wish to send you a messege.
You see i love your fics, they are great, well written and sweet, and full of explanations that make more sense than the marvel canon´s one. Your RR&R and your classsic verse is the ones that truly opened my heart to steve/tony. And the shipping you wrote about them was good to, i left a comment on it too.
Make´s me kind of sad that you seem to have stop´t writing fics. But hopefully you still writing your own stories instead. Becuse you have talent. A lot of it, and it deserved to come of use in some form.

Thanks for the one´s i has read, i havent read all of them yet, im just plan on read the one about steve, tony and the avengers. But im sure the rest are good to.

I hope i can be as good as a writer as you are. (sorry for all grammar errors.)

Hi there. I just wanted to say that I think your fics are absolutely amazing. "When The Lights Go On Again" is just fantastic. I never thought I'd read an Alien Invasion fic but you made it believable, original, and incredibly interesting! I hope you don't mind if I add you as a friend. :)

I was wondering what happened to your Steve/Tony shippers manifesto here. Is it friendslocked? I understand if you don't want others to read it but I'd love to read your headcanon/meta about the pairing if you were comfortable making it public. Thanks again! <3

Thanks! The aliens actually ended up being one of the more fun parts of that fic. And you can definately friend me ^_^.

The Steve/Tony post is also up on ship_manifesto here. The one in my journal was actually a rough draft of that post (though I didn't lock it on purpose - I reset my journal security a while ago and had to go back and un-flock fic and meta posts by hand afterwards, and I must have missed that one).

*pokes up hand* Love your Captain America/IronMan fic. It's epicly amazing. I was just wondering if you'd considered putting it on A03? I realize this is a purely selfish request, as a) I like having all the good fic archived, and b) it makes getting them on my kindle so much quicker than doing the whole copy paste thing a million times. Just food for thought, I guarantee that more readers than just myself would appreciate it.

I probably ought to - I hadn't yet because if we ever serial scrubbed it to publish it, then we'd have to take it down, and there's a special place in hell (next to the people who talk on cell phones in the theater) reserved for people who delete fics from archives, but if I put it up with a warning that we might someday have to do that I guess it would be okay.

Um, hi, I'm one of the many who you introduced to Tony/Steve (and, well, the Avengers too actually) and your fics is very dear to me and I come here to reread them when I crave some classic stories from the fandom, which is very often.

But it seems the links are broken or that the fics are gone. Any idea why, or should I start panicking?

Sincerely, a stalkerish fan of yours, who can't spell.

Ack - no, the links aren't supposed to be broken. Thanks for the heads-up.

Out of curiosity, which links are the ones that aren't working? I've tested all the Marvel fandom ones, and I don't think I screwed the html on any of those up.

Hi! I recently found your Avengers fics via various recs, and I just wanted to say that I really like them! It's great to read long fic, and I enjoy the plot & characterization. I just have a couple of questions; I hope you don't mind them. First, I was wondering if Hostages to Fortune is still ongoing. Second, is there a possibility of seeing Resurrection-verse on AO3? (I saw that you have Classic-verse, etc. on there, and I read your explanation above wrt to When the Lights Go On Again.) Thanks for your time, and thanks for all the awesome stories!

Can you put Resurrection verse and When the Lights Go On Again on AO3? I would love to put it on my e-reader to go with me during summer vacation!

Oooh, thank you! Sadly, I can't actually read it for myself since I don't know Russian, but I really appreciate all the effort you've put in ^_^.
